The Unicorn Song

No recipes for you today, just a St. Patties Day song!

The unicorn song

“A long time ago, when the Earth was green,
There was more kinds of animals than you’ve ever seen.
And they ran about free while the Earth was being born,
And the loveliest of all was the unicorn.

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born,
The loveliest of all was the unicorn.

The Lord seen some sinning and it caused Him pain.
And He said, ‘Stand back, I’m going to make it rain!’
He said, ‘Hey, Brother Noah, I’ll tell you what to do,
Go and build me a floating zoo,’
‘and take some’…….

‘Green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born.
Don’t you forget My unicorns.’

Old Noah was there to answer the call,
He finished up the ark just as the rain started to fall.
Then he marched in the animals two by two,
And he called out as they came through,

‘Hey Lord,’

‘I’ve got your green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I’m so forlorn,
I just can’t see no unicorns!’

And Noah looked out through the driving rain,
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games.
Kicking and splashing while the rain was pourin’,
Oh, them silly unicorns!

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Noah cried, ‘Close the door because the rain is falling
And we just can’t wait for those unicorns!’

The ark started moving, it drifted with the tide,
The unicorns looked up from the rocks and they cried.
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away,
That’s why you never see unicorns to this very day.

You’ll see some green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born,
You’re never gonna see a unicorn!”

Picadilly Pub chain closed?!?!

On a post at telegram.com, an article was posted called “Piccadilly Pub slams doors”. Restaurants in Worcester, Auburn, Sturbridge, Marlboro and Westboro were shut down with a notice that read:
“Piccadilly Pub Restaurants have temporarily closed. Currently, a date has not been set for a re-opening. We apologize for any inconvenience.

“I’d like to thank each of you for your loyalty through the years and hope that we may have the chance to serve you again in the future.”

My reaction, as well as my dad’s, was just ” wow”. I mean we have been there so many times. Friend get – togethers, family time, or just getting lunch after shopping at Walmart.

Supposedly, the restaurant chain “filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy” and many chains closed yesterday.

I guess there will be no more Thursday night outings! Goodbye Piccadilly pub! :/

Thanksgiving- style casserole

This casserole has a bit of a background story:

Yesterday night, my mom and I were thinking about dinner. I had an idea to make a casserole with cream-of-celery soup, elbows, caramelized onions, bread crumbs, and cheese. However, we did not have the soup. So ours came out a bit different but it was good.

Ingredients:

Breadcrumbs

Onion

“Elbows” pasta

Orzo ( if desired)

Cheese ( if desired) (we used  mozzarella)

Cream- of – celery soup

Process: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cook pasta. If the pasta tends to stick together ( which it will) add butter. Then, combine with the soup while its hot. Next, if your breadcrumbs are not seasoned, combine them with onion powder, basil, salt and pepper. If your breadcrumbs ARE seasoned, use those. Use a baking dish and coat it with Crisco ( or another shortening or non-stick-). Put the soup-coated pasta  in the baking dish. Coat with cheese and breadcrumbs on top. Bake untill it bubbles and the cheese is melting. ( For the cheese to brown, turn your oven to BROIL.)

Enjoy!

Tuna Fish Salad and an important note

For the greatest tuna fish salad, this is the recipe:

1. Canned tuna fish

2. Mayonnaise

3. Garlic and onion powder

4. Celery salt

5. Toasted sesame seeds*

Process:

1. Remove the water from the tuna and take out black pieces (if any). Combine with mayo.

2. Sprinkle in the celery salt, garlic powder, onion powder and sesame seeds. Combine and serve.

* If desired

Note:

Most recipes I have do not have measurements. This is because I believe that people should be able to add as much as they like of an ingredient to a dish.
